Summer Homework - TV News Research.
The British TV news programme I researched about is called BBC Breakfast.
It is shown everyday from 6 am to 9:15 am.
There are many presenters such as Bill Turner, Louise Minchin and Charlie Stayt. Those are the 3 main staff that you see when the show opens. Carol Kirkwood is their weather forecaster.
Their average viewing figures are 6.838m daily.
BBC breakfast has won a lot of awards through out the past years. In March 2006, Breakfast won the
TRIC award for best daytime television programme for the third year in a row.
The show was also nominated for a national television award in the Topical Magazine Programme category in 2011 but lost.

I think the target audience for this programme is really for everyone because a lot of people do watch news. I think 70% females aged 20+. I think majority of females watch the news because they like to know what is going on in the world and many like to discuss with their friends. 30% males aged 30+ and are business men because personally I think they watch news more than some teenage boys.

Youtube Clip: Jennifer Lawrence Interview
I chose this clip because it shows that BBC Breakfast doesn't just inform people with news but they do interviews too.
A clip advertising BBC Breakfast: BBC Breakfast is Happy
At first it was called Breakfast Times and this started 17th January 1983 but was changed to BBC Breakfast. On the 2nd of October they joined BBC News. BBC Breakfast is owned by BBC News but BBC News is originally owned by John Reid. The Channel is famous for news broadcasts and also shows like Eastenders.

One thing that I learnt is in 2003, the Breakfast production team was commissioned by BBC One to make a week long series called The Day Team From Chatsworth presented by Nicki Chapman.

Nude Photo Leaks
Hundreds of nude, semi-nude, and revealing pictures of female celebrities were leaked over night after being stolen from their private collections. Hunger Games actress Jennifer Lawrence, Kirsten Dunst, and pop star Ariana Grande were among the celebrities apparently shown in the pictures, which were posted on infamous web forum 4chan.
ISIS Stricks Again.
ISIS executioner Jihadi John taunts Present Obama as he beheads the second US journalist - Steven Sotloff and then threatens to kill a British hostage for his next act.
Ashya King
Parents of Ashya King finally reunite with their son at Malaga Hospital after they were arrested and held in a Madrid prison after taking five year old Ashya, who suffers from brain tumour, from Southampton General Hospital against medical advice.
I think the editors of the programme put the news in this order because they put the not so serious news at the top and then the really serious news last so the readers and people watching shocked and emotionally touched. Also, I think they leave the shocking news at the end so that people are aware of what is happening and it is the last thing on their mind.
WWW: Phenomenal looking blog so far Yasmin - really professional and it proves your dedication to your work.
ReplyDeleteEBI: I would like a slightly more original idea for the running order of the events in the news.
